The down dog of knowledge

“They’re not just teaching physical poses, they’re teaching children how to think and how to make decisions,” Ms. Eady said. “They’re teaching children how to meditate and how to look within for peace and for comfort."
And that, explains Ms. Eady, is a bad thing. Welcome to our world.

I'm in your culture war corner, but I think it's a fair point. Yoga is a religious practice!

It raises another related thing: Westerners want to pretend it isn't because everything's about money and hedonism these days. So we've corrupted it, you know? In a way the Christians are pointing back toward it being a more authentic thing.

I'm going to have to agree with the above comment. I wouldn't want kids in a public school to learn about peace and comfort through Jesus and don't really want them learning about it through Yoga either.

  3. Let's not forget art. We don't want kids peacin' and comfortin' to that, either.
